Driving the Coast - Day 8 Harris Beach to Redwood Forrest then back to Portland

The last day of our drive on the coast. We headed further south into the tip of Northern California where we drove through a dirt road in the Jedediah Smit Redwood State Park and then headed north to Portland.

This spot was about a 5 minute walk from our campsite. From here there was a trail that lead down to the beach. We walked down there the night before but I didn't bring my camera.

Redwoods! Jen drove and I stuck my head out the passenger window with my camera and shot.

Lots of sun rays in the morning. This is about the best I got of them.

The trees were huge, these weren't even the big ones.

Sittin in a tree.

This isn't a trick photo, that's how big it really was.

We stopped and went for a walk in the Stout Grove in Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park.

The Stout Tree, this tree is 17 feet in diameter. It's the largest in the Grove, but not the largest in the park.

Photo by Jen. Me with the Stout Grove. I get a kick out of how the wide angle lens distorted my body. In real life I don't have giant legs and a tiny head.

From here we headed North to Portland.

Pretty good shot of that huge stump. That's a tough one to get. Tried half a dozen times so far. If I go solo, might need a remote shutter release to be able to stand on top.
