Overnight on the Heather Trail

Jen and I took advantage of the last chance we'd get to head out and do some more camping before our upcoming trip on the West Coast Trail. We headed up to Manning Park and spent the first night in Lightning Lakes camp site. Then headed up to hike the Heather trail.

The road up to the upper and lower parking lots was closed so we had an extra 4k hike to the trailhead.

From what I've read the flowers on this trail in Mid-July through August are spectacular. We were a bit early for them, but we did get a little taste.

Jen. At this point we weren't really sure what the conditions of the trail were going to be, this turned out to be the most snow we'd have to deal with.

Our campsite at Buckhorn, because of hiking the road we didn't bother pushing on to the Kicking Horse campground. We were the only ones there, it was peaceful... and a little spooky ;)

We woke up the next morning to snow. I didn't have anything that would really offer any protection for my new digital camera so I didn't take any photos of it.

Jen and I would love to come back and do it again, but next time when the road to the upper parking lot is open and we have enough time to get to the Kicking Horse camp site.
